Quick, efficient way to deploy MFA within WatchGuard tech stack. We primarily use for MFA enforcement onIKEv2 & SSL VPNs.
  • Simple MFA deployment on VPNs
  • Active directory integration for more complex deployments / lower admin overhead after implementation
  • Ability to deploy with user id DB in cloud for smaller / simpler deployments
  • Have had issues where Firebox comes "disconnected" from the cloud, which results in VPN functionality outage
  • Mobile app does not always provide push notifications, even with sufficient device permissions - We train users to open the app when attempting to auth
  • I am not sure if 3rd party authenticators are supported, possible they are and I'm unaware, but this would be a nice feature, occasionally receive objections to installation on personal devices
AuthPoint is the obvious choice if you already have a WatchGuard edge device, particularly if using it for VPN endpoint. I have not tried implementing it for other services, although it has this capability, but if I didn't already have a WG techstack, I would look at other alternatives to protect non-WatchGuard services.

We use Authpoint to better secure VPN for our remote staff, approximate 85% of our staff are remote and work from both home, client sites and Public venues. MFA is crucial if staff are working remotely. Authpoint was selected based on cost, ease of use and configuration, and overall compatability with our firewalls (Watchguard.) Though we use Office 365 and SharePoint intensively, we have specific internal apps that staff must use and specific data sets kept behind our firewalls that can only be accessed remotely when on VPN. Securing the connection is essential. Authpoint is an important part in our multi-layered desktop and communications security.
  • Works well with the free Authpoint client and the OpenVPN clinet.
  • Token management is simple and hosted completely in the cloud to reduce overall complexity
  • Setup was simple and and staighforward
  • Suppports several authentication methods we have used both RADIUS and SAML effectively, but ADFS, IDP, RDWeb, and RESTful API, and other custom apps are supported.
  • Geofencing for RDP has been very useful as it is independant of our firewall geofencing. This is quite useful for organizations like us who do not Geofence at at the firewall level so as to provide global access to resources on the DMZ.
  • Authpoint can integrate with other vendors firewalls, but this is not easily set up. The company could provide better support when customers who need to use a firewall from a third party vendor.
  • The Authpoint native desktop client can fail and need it processes killed at the OS level. At time only a restart can restore functionality. This occurs on about .05% of the connections
  • Thought the actual setup is fairly simple the documentation is mediocre.
Watchguard Authpoint is well suited to both small and large companies and scales well. It can be adapted to a number of token delivery methods, and mutliple methods (Push, QR code, OTP) can be used simultaneously to support users in different authentication contexts. The geokinetics function allows for real control of international travelers distinguishing them from random individuals using stolen credentials in random remote locations.

Turnkey utilizes Watchguard Authpoint to add Multi-Factor authentication to our PC's and Servers. Additionally, we utilize the integration with other applications and languages (SAML) to secure many of our tools natively. We also recommend this product for all of our Customers.

Watchguard Authpoint gives us a flexible tool with a simple management platform to provide Multi-Factor Authentication for many systems.
  • Integrate with other tools.
  • Provide easy to use interface
  • Offer flexible management
  • Allow sort of third party codes
  • Integrate with various hardware token vendors
Watchguard Authpoint is perfect for a small to medium sized business looking to secure their user logon experience to systems and applications.

It is also ideal for a user base that is not computer savvy or comfortable with Technology.

We're using the software across the whole company and customers. It's used to secure our user VPNs and the access to our networks. Employees that have access to many resources in our company need to authenticate with two-factor. The first factor is the username and password and the second one is the token from WatchGuard AuthPoint.
  • Can manage multiple SAMLs and other services that support two-factor authentication--one app for many services.
  • WatchGuard AuthPoint can be used for many or all services from WatchGuard appliances.
  • The software is useful for companies that have already WatchGuard products in use but also for someone who only wants a fast and secure token for securing web logins.
  • Authentication on Windows servers and PC.
  • Management is confusing if you never worked with WatchGuard Cloud.
WatchGuard AuthPoint isn't useful if you want to secure your on-premises servers or client computers. You can use it to provide an additional security layer for logging in on a PC. But if you already are logged in, you can't authenticate with two-factor for tasks that need admin privileges (UAC in Windows). It is very useful for logging in on websites that support two-factor, like Facebook, WordPress, or programs like Battle.net. It's also very useful to secure your mobile user VPNs.

We use Authpoint at various sites for adding MFA to applications like remote desktop, PC Login, and Email access. It does a good enough job, and users are generally able to self-enroll and use it without much issue. The one fatal flaw is that it does not support standard OTP generation, so we are unable to add it to our third-party password/login management solution. That means for all the techs that support the site, there is one shared login on one phone. If that person is unavailable, we are unable to access the site.
  • Ease of use.
  • Lots of options for application support.
  • Integrates well with other Watchguard products.
  • Lack of OTP support.
  • Flexibility for non-standard AD integration.
  • Better documentation for third-party VPN integration.
Authpoint is great for a situation where each individual has their own login but for an outsourced IT department with an MSP, either each technician would need their own account (which raises licensing costs for the client) or the primary tech with the app will always need to be available for other members of their team to login.

We use it to authenticate users when logging into their Windows computers. Also use it to login to Watchguard VPN and Websites. It is used to provide a higher level of security and also for compliance requirements. We also resell this as a MFA solution for our customers, and we configure and manage our customers deployments of Authpoint.
  • Use of Smartphones for the token
  • Use of third party tokens
  • ease of use
  • Integrate with IKEv2 and LDAP
WatchGuard Authpoint is well suited with integration with Windows, SSO, securing Watchguard SSL VPN, and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. It will work with Watchguard IKEv2 VPN but not when there is a need to authenticate with Radius server.

  • Easy to implement
  • Large third-party services and applications integration
  • OTP when Push can't work
  • Powerful but cost-effective
  • To many steps to get to Watchguard Cloud
The main purpose to implement the MFA for my customers was to provide an easy-to-implement, flexible and cost-effective solution to ensure that only allowed users can remotely access the LAN. The pandemic showed any Company that allowing employees to work remotely is a great resource for both. For IT managers is crucial that the large use of VPNs is not to become an open door for anyone who just stole credentials. With the latest firmware on the recent firewalls, the implementation became even easier since a RADIUS Client Resource in AuthPoint is not necessary anymore. The associated Mobile App runs either on Android or iOS. Another interesting use case is to prevent unauthorized users from login into crucial Windows Server implementing the Logon app. We, administrators, are very careful in keeping secret an administrator account password but, for different reasons, it can be breached. After entering such a password an automatic request for approval reaches the AuthPoint App on your smartphone so, if it is not you, not only the intruder can’t log in, but you know that such credentials had been breached and you must immediately change the password and investigate back. My advice, go for it!

We currently use it as MFA to access to WatchGuard partner portal, and we have enabled Authpoint for a client to use as MFA with their SSLVPN connections.
  • Manage tokens.
  • Integrates easily with Active Directory.
  • Easy to manage from WatchGuard cloud.
  • Transferring of tokens when changing devices.
I believe WatchGuard AuthPoint is suited for SSLVPN connections. It verifies the identity to remotely access the network. It also works well as MFA to sign into Windows devices for security. I don't think it's well suited for other third party cloud platforms as it can be problematic to transfer the tokens.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint in many areas in our organization. From authenticating ourselves as an administrator of our Firebox, Accessing our computers with Logon, authenticating our VPNs and the AuthPoint application on our phones as a token manager. This technology has allowed us to mitigate risks such as: reused passwords, unauthorized access to resources, shared passwords between users.
  • Managing tokens.
  • Logon.
  • To create good habits with the use of credentials.
  • Mitigating the risk of our credentials being compromised.
  • Easier API integration.
  • Logon for Linux.
  • More profiles.
AuthPoint is appropriate for companies concerned about the security of their information, since it allows us to deliver resources to the user for whom it is intended. If we talk about suitable scenarios, AuthPoint is recommended for any type of company. It is less appropriate work environments where user schemes are not defined, or there are no specific policies on team management, for example teams where there is only one user per computer, with users doing totally different functions, it should be noted that integration with Other Firewalls limits sales of this product as potential customers prefer to stick with their captive portal authentication solution provided by their current firewall.

WatchGuard AuthPoint provides MFA capabilities to many different products. As a service provider, it allows supervision on all customers that buys WatchGuard AuthPoint through us. The administration is a breeze since setup guides are readily available on the WatchGuard Website. It has been implemented as a MFA for servers and Desktops and securing SSLVPN for WatchGuard and FortiGate firewalls.
  • MFA on the cloud
  • Ease of Administration
  • Availability of Authpoint service
  • Many integrations with today's applications
  • Some product integration requires Authpoint Gateway. Meaning additional service to maintain
  • WatchGuard AuthPoint Logon App unable to secure usernames with spacing
  • Loading speed of WatchGuard Cloud console can improve
I will recommend it to be implemented on servers. The prompting of MFA when RDP forces small companies to create users for each administrators. Also effective in securing laptops. For firewalls, if it is SSO based implementation, the firewall policies cannot be granular on the access of SSLVPN users and groups.

We use it internally and also deploy it to our clients. One of the problems we are facing currently is that Carbon Black blocks the software because of the fact that it uses PowerShell Script to generate geo-coordinate data back to WatchGuard AuthPoint. I've been liaising with WatchGuard support for help on this issue, but no luck so far.
  • Simplicity to setup
  • Easy implementation
  • No fuss setup with software token
  • Azure AD sync works well
  • Support
  • App sometimes takes longer for it to boot
  • Change the way it sends out geo-coordinate (Not using PowerShell)
License implementation can be a problem sometimes, and support doesn't seem to know much when there is an issue.

Our cyber liability insurance has started requiring MFA for just about everything.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for MFA for logging into local Windows desktops and laptops.
  • Reliable authentication process between the WatchGuard Cloud and end devices
  • Integration to local Active Directory is superb
  • WatchGuard Cloud interface is mostly intuitive
  • Agent software installation is very straightforward and works the first time
  • More flexibility in designating which local AD users participate in MFA or not
  • The ability to designate which users have a license and which ones don't
  • Easier admin bypass for local desktop login
It is excellent for adding MFA to local desktops and laptops (on and off the LAN).
Integrates to Office 365 for a login provider--has some caveats though.
Integrates with WatchGuard firewalls for MFA on VPN connections.

WatchGuard Authpoint provides solutions for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). With Watchguard Authpoint we can secure our other WatchGuard appliances and 3rd party programs that support radius authentication service. Authpoint is very easy to use in that scope after buying all you need to do is activate and you can manage your products from cloud porta. We currently use it to secure our VPN connections.
  • Watchguard VPN 2FA.
  • Sync between Microsoft Windows Server Active Directory.
  • Radius Authentication Sync.
  • There can be APIs that support 3rd party message services for Time Password (OTP).
Our current use cases are mostly for Watchguard Firewall VPN solutions but with WatchGuard Authpoint. We can add 2FA to multiple services that require radius or active directory authentication in that way Watchguard Authpoint is mostly used under its full potential. As a minus it's not compatible with web-based 2FA it can be hard to configure.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for users to access company network resources through mobile VPN or through the WatchGuard Authentication Portal. Security and user management are both very important issues that WatchGuard AuthPoint handles for us easily by integrating seamlessly with the current infrastructure.
  • Set and forget. Once initial setup is done, there's little to nothing that needs fixing or maintaining.
  • Onboarding and offboarding users is quick.
  • Easy to monitor and troubleshoot but I very rarely ever have to.
  • User interface could use some work. While I've gotten used to it, none of my support techs know how to navigate the site and even I stumble around until I get to the control I need.
  • *Every* single end-user when they initially set up the app, complains about the app "constantly downloading". I now preemptively tell users that it's not downloading anything and that is the timer for the 6 digit code. Change the interface so it doesn't look like a progress bar.
- WatchGuard AuthPoint supports several different MFA systems from different companies (Microsoft, Netsuite, etc.) that users love having a single app for all their MFA accounts. - Because there's a per-user recurring subscription, not every company is interested, especially when they have limited use for it (ie. Mobile VPN only).

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint to secure our accounts with MFA. We needed something to add MFA to VPN and PC Logon and this adds that feature. We like the notification via the app.
  • Easy setup
  • App Notifications
  • Great Support / Documentation
  • Add feature to inherit token to ad user
  • Customize App Notifications
  • Lower Cost
I'd recommend WatchGuard AuthPoint if you need a solution to secure computer logons, VPN, or other resources with MFA. The logging provides great details. WatchGuard AuthPoint is compatible with many cloud services already.

I have used WatchGuard Fireboxes for nearly 20 years and they have always performed the way they are expected. During the start of Covid-19, we started a hybrid workspace for our office staff with implementing the hybrid workspace we needed a secure way to VPN from the employee's remote work environments. The WatchGuard VPN was a great solution and applying the AuthPoint solution on top made the connection that much more secure.
  • Secure login
  • Multi factor Authentication
  • Ease of use

I originally set up AuthPoint for secure Logins for my Firebox which I have used for many years. 2 years ago I needed a MultiFactor option of a third party Anti-virus and without fail the AuthPoint solution worked perfectly. We currently use Watchguard AuthPoint to do multifactor validation of VPN access to our company users, we have a Watchguard Firewall
  • Fast multifactor validation
  • secure access platform
  • good integration with third-party software
  • Initial configuration somewhat difficult and not very intuitive to use
Watchguard AuthPoint is an excellent multifactor validation software that integrates seamlessly with native Watchguard Software or Hardware but also works very well with third party software, we have also used it to double validate TeamViewer. A good scenario for its use is one in which you need to secure access to your infrastructure with multifactor access software, if you do not have it, it is a good choice

We initially used AuthPoint to implement multifactor authentication for our mobile VPN users. With the 2021 increase in ransomware and general cybersecurity requirements, AuthPoint was the "Easy Button" to add MFA onto our WatchGuard firewalls existing mobile user VPN configuration. AuthPoint easily integrates with Windows Active Directory to add MFA onto our user's existing Windows domain credentials for VPN access. AuthPoint supports many MFA implementations, not just VPN! AuthPoint can also be used for MFA login onto domain workstations. AuthPoint can also optionally integrate with certain Radius authentication scenarios to add MFA to other logins as well. WatchGuard has a whole list of supported AuthPoint integrations! Additionally, AuthPoint has been a really affordable way for our University to meet the increasing Cybersecurity Insurance requirements. Insurance providers are now a real driver for computer security upgrades. WatchGuard and AuthPoint have really helped us meet these new insurance requirements. with a supported solution, at a very low perusers annual licensing cost.
  • Simple installation.
  • Easy cloud management and configuration.
  • Easy deployment to our users with an easy to use app and setup process!
  • Low annual licensing costs.
  • I wish AuthPoint could cancel a pending MFA invitation. The developers are working on a way to do this.
  • Easier NPS Radius setup.
  • A simpler way to refresh the users on demand.
AuthPoint is very well suited for adding multifactor authentication of mobile VPN users connecting to WatchGuard firewalls. Any currently support WatchGuard firewall is supported, not just the high-end firewalls. We use AuthPoint at our main campus location and our small remote offices too. AuthPoint is also an excellent way to add MFA to the computer logon process as well. But AuthPoint can also be used to authenticate for other services and products as well. AuthPoint is probably not a good solution if you do not use WatchGuard firewalls. But if you are using WatchGuard firewalls, it is almost a no-brainer add-on to greatly increase perimeter security with MFA!

[WatchGuard] Authpoint is a great tool to use for MFA - especially for remote users logging into their corporate networks remotely using a SSLVPN. The authenticator allows a secure code to be added at the end of the password for an extra layer of protection. The application is friendly for web portals and other 3rd party programs as well.
  • Ease of Deployment
  • End User Funtionality
  • Push Notifications
  • Annual / 3-year Licensing Purchases or Monthly Service Options
  • 3rd Party Partnerships
{WatchGuard] AuthPoint is great for users that have invested in the WatchGuard family of products/services. For any user logging into corporate networks via SSLVPN, it is a great tool to add that extra level of security. It is very easy to use. If there is no WatchGuard family of products/services in production, we will usually go a different MFA route as there is better 3rd party integration with more products.

WatchGuard's AuthPoint is currently used as an authentication method for our endpoint device access for our Domain Users, endpoint device access for our Domain Admins, and VPN Access for our remote users. This allows us to authenticate access by Domain security groups utilizing the LDAP integration offered by AuthPoint. We are currently working on implementing AuthPoint into our Office 365 solution as well as third-party RMM and accounting products.
  • Ease of use
  • Ease of Implemenetation
  • Third party integration
  • Third party token backups
  • Restore / migration of token profiles to new devices
  • Pricing
  • Cloud Management Access Policies (more granular restricted user groups)
  • Moving away from JDK required LDAP integration
In my experience, there is no scenario where WatchGuard's AuthPoint product was not well suited. At this point, the only rate-limiting factor has been pricing in the client's eyes. Fortunately, this has only been in our ala carte solution model. Our MSSP model has been designed to include AuthPoint and has been a great addition to our portfolio.

While AuthPoint has been around for longer than I have used it, it came to us as a need to tighten up VPN security with 2FA/MFA and with more of our clients requiring this due to increased attacks. The VPN security is just the start as AuthPoint can do much more with cloud apps, single-sign-on, and local on-prem device logins. Looking forward to implementing more of its features.
  • VPN 2fa/mfa secure login
  • Single-Signon thru AuthPoint portal to other cloud apps
  • On prem authentications using the AuthPoint MFA app.
  • Some of our agings deployed firewalls require additional setups and AuthPoint is not fully baked into - but is not totally wrong in that new features require new hardware at times.
  • While the setup process when knowledgeable of it is easy enough, I think some of the steps can pull you thru a little better thru the wizard. Overall though, the online KB and videos are extremely good.
  • The MFA token is only sold in a 10 pack. Was wishing it can be purchased in single units as it now means we need to purchase single 3rd party tokens (only when a user does not want to use the free AuthPoint mobile app).
We have used Watchguard firewalls for the past 20 years and support has always been a leading reason for working with them...in addition to leading-edge security and features and ease of access to high-security devices.

We use AuthPoint across the whole organization. We have implemented Logon app for laptops and Radius for VPN connections. The problem it addresses is the security risk of relying only on passwords.
  • Adds 2FA for login on Windows and MacOS devices.
  • Provides SSO options by using SAML.
  • Adds a layer of protection to your VPN.
  • Integration with VPN without the need for AD
AuthPoint is great for companies with mobile users, as it will protect devices locally and your company's network by adding 2FA for VPN. It can also be integrated with any cloud service by using SAML and the IDP portal. I can't think of a scenario where AuthPoint wouldn't be suitable, considering the increasing threats and exposures globally.
